8th Universities High Voltage Network Colloquium

UHVnet 2015 - Call for Papers

“HVDC Power Transmission Technologies”

The 8th UHVnet Colloquium will be hosted by ALSTOM Grid and Staffordshire University in Stafford on the 14th and 15th of January 2015. The event will offer a combination of technical visits to see ALSTOM Grid’s HVDC Transmission Technologies and plenary oral and poster sessions at Staffordshire University. Papers are particularly invited from Postgraduate Students and Early Career Researchers, for whom the Colloquium provides an ideal platform to present their work to others within the UK’s High Voltage (HV) Engineering community. The organisers welcome the submission of abstracts that cover the usual broad spectrum of research topics, while the keynote lectures will address the challenges posed by achieving future sustainable power networks and how this might affect the research agenda in future, with a particular focus on HVDC power transmission technologies.

Single-page abstracts are invited which cover any aspects of:

-          High Voltage AC and DC Plant and Systems

-          Measurement and Condition Monitoring

-          Dielectric Materials and their AC or DC Applications

-          Theory, Models and Simulation

-          Data Interpretation and Diagnostics

-          Assessing the Sustainability of Power Networks

The abstract template can be downloaded from www.uhvnet.org.uk/submission.html where you will also find instructions for submission. The provisional schedule of dates is set out below for Posters / Orals presentation. Abstracts will be reviewed and selected for either oral or poster presentation. Prizes to the value of £100 will be awarded to the presenters of the best Poster and Oral presentation, as judged by a review panel on the day. The winners will also receive a commemorative certificate from the UHVnet Steering Group.

Please note that authors will not be required to write a formal paper for this conference. However, the intention is to make material available on the website after the event – this might take the form of a .pdf version of your slides or poster. The event will be free to attend including both Technical Visits and Plenary / Posters Sessions. For the Technical Visits only, please note that participation will be limited to a maximum of 60 attendees in order to establish 3 groups of 20 visitors that will be rotated to all 3 areas (See Programme). Participation restrictions do not apply to Plenary Oral and Posters Sessions. Ultimately, ALSTOM Grid reserves the right, at its discretion, to restrict any participant entrance into any or all areas of the ALSTOM Grid premises during the technical visits.
